Punctuality

Swimmer Punctuality at Training Sessions.
Coaches prepare sessions based on the full time available and it is important that swimmers take maximum advantage and complete all parts of the session. Most sessions will involve a poolside warm up that is an important element in preparing to swim so all swimmers should aim to be on the poolside at least 10 minutes before the actual session start time

The pool warm-up is just as important as it prepares the body for the intensive session workouts and must be completed correctly to minimise the possibility of injury. A swimmer who is late causes the coach to adapt the warm-up for them, not easy within the time available and not fair to other swimmers.

If swimmers feel they have a valid reason for being late, the parent/guardian must accompany them onto poolside and inform the coach. The coach will make the decision whether the swimmer is allowed to train based on time lost and previous punctuality.

If your swimmer is late and is excluded from a session, please speak to the coach if you feel they have been unfairly treated. No leeway will be given on this matter.

Finally, please note that most swimmers are punctual and expect to have full and uninterrupted sessions to maximise the opportunities being offered to them. Swimming training is difficult and everyone must be aware of their responsibility to coaches, other swimmers and particularly to themselves.

We want all swimmers to accept the opportunity to be the best they can be.

Be early with all equipment, goggles, caps etc. in place ready to train, every session. Avoid drinking sweet sugary drinks immediately prior to swimming - these encourage the desire for toilet breaks that should not be necessary and will not normally be allowed.
