Bob Bolton - Masters Coach
Bob is a fully qualified Level 2 Teacher/Coach and one of only a handful of qualified Level 2 Open Water Coaches in the UK. He has been involved in teaching and coaching swimmers of all ages for decades and currently coaches the Masters Squad.
He is a Swim England Coach/Tutor delivering the Swim England Level 1 & 2 Coach qualifications and Level 2 Open water coach qualification. In 2015 he set up Openswim UK, based at Sale Water Park to further open water swimming in the region.
Bob is also a Swim England licensed Official qualified as a Referee and an elected member of the Cheshire WP&SA Executive and holds the position of Masters Secretary and Open Water Secretary for the Cheshire County. He sits on the Masters NW Board of Directors and is the Regional Masters Representative. He has been the President of Manchester & District Water Polo & Swimming Association 4 times. In 2020 he received the Cherriman Award for outstanding services to the Masters swimming community. He has served on the Trafford Metro Committee since 2007 and is currently the Club Chairman.
In addition to coaching Bob is also a swimmer in our Masters Squad. He has been involved in swimming and water polo since 1965 when he joined Stretford Swimming Club. He returned in the late 1980's to water polo playing to national league level and currently competes in triathlons as he is also a keen cyclist.
Jo Bolton - Masters Coach
Jo is a fully qualified Swim England Level 3 Coach and holds a full National Pool Lifeguard Certificate and has been teaching and coaching swimmers of all ages since 1985. She currently coaches the club’s National Junior Squad, Masters Fitness Group and the morning Masters Squad sessions.
In addition to coaching Jo is also a swimmer in our Masters Squad. She joined Trafford Metro in 1976 when it used to be known as Sale Swimming Club. She swam to National level as an age group swimmer and competed at the Olympic trials in 1986. Currently she competes with our Masters Squad. Over the years she has won national titles for 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke and broken European and World records as part of the 4x100IM ladies relay team swimming the breaststroke leg. She has also swum the English Channel individually for charity.
