On Saturday 26th October the club’s youngest members competed in the first round of the Stockport Metro Mini Meet Prep series.
The Mini Meet prep is a series of time trials for children from the local area that wish to get a taste of competitive swimming.
Trafford Metro had 17 children aged between 7-9 years old from the Mini Mets programme that excelled in their debut swimming competition, making their Parents and Coaches very proud. It was great to see the young children showing such a fantastic “Can do” attitude on the poolside. Here’s an insight into what some of the children thought:
Alexander said that he “still keeps waking up thinking he's dreaming after winning his butterfly race”.
Zoey said “In the beginning, I was feeling very nervous but when I started I enjoyed it a lot. I am proud of myself as it is my first competition. I liked every part of the competition, the swimming, playing games and I just had so much fun.”
Sam said "My favourite part was diving off the starting block when the races began! I also liked the biscuits that we had in between races. It was very exciting and I'm already looking forward to the next race."
Rhys said “I felt very nervous but excited when I realised I’d be swimming in front of so many people. The races were great fun and I could hear my coaches and team mates cheering me on which helped a lot. I’m really looking forward to competing again and seeing whether I can improve.”
The swimmers will be competing in the second round of the Mini Meet Prep series on Saturday 30th November. Keep up the great work!
