22 June 14
Trafford Metro went to Sheffield's Ponds forge on June the 22nd for Retfords 21st meet, and the Trafford metro swimmers were in 1st class form taking medal after medal. 51 swimmers took part in this years Retford meet meaning Trafford had a strong team going into the competition, many individuals shone through and none more so than Daniel New who took medals as well as some outstanding swims in all categories taking massive chunks off his personal bests. This time last year Daniel was doing just 2 sessions week, a year on and Daniel is doing more than ever and reaping the rewards showing commitment and perseverance can pay off if you chose to train in the correct manner and be consistent, Daniel now does on average 6 sessions a week and is eager for more, he was also swimming with his 2 sisters in the competition.
From the girls there were again some outstanding performances Hannah head and Emily Conway really putting in the leg work and claiming medals left, right and centre. Emily Conway did really well considering she had already been to 2 competitions in the over the weekend this being her 3rd, and she showed how strong she was by putting in some outstanding performances notably in her 100 Bs and 200 IM, with holding great technique through out.
Also; George Leech who's skills were out standing at the weekend and has come on leaps and bounds; doing well in all sessions available to him, which has resulted in medal winning performances and pb’s through the competition.
One of our more experienced swimmers Daniel Walsh who took part and really has shown that he can still make improvements after making a switch back to Trafford from Manchester a few months ago, Dan led by example by smashing the opposition apart with the 50 & 100 Fly and the 100 IM where he led from the start and also was shown a well unprecedented speeding ticket.
Gold medalistsalso included Eve Salsbury, Anna Livermore, Llywelyn Smyth, Ella Parker, Joe Hammond, Nisarg Dharashivkar and Edward Copping.

Some great results were had at Retford and this is most defiantly an improvement on last year as we were crowned top club compared to last year we came 3rd, so a big Congratulations to all who participated we wouldn’t have won the Trophy with out you and also thank you to all the parents who helped out at the gala, it wouldn’t have gone ahead with out you supporting the event.
