18 July 23
Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in the Mini Championships on
Saturday 15th July. The performances were absolutely fantastic – each athlete showcased great skills and determination in the races.
Up to 90 members of our Mini Mets competed individually in 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley. A special mention must go to the six athletes that set new championship records. They were:
- Jake Webster continued his momentum from being awarded the prize for being the Top Boy at the Spring open meet to set two new records in the 9 years & under 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke.
- Michael Pudjianto showed huge determination in the 10 years 50m Breaststroke to lower the previous record by over a second.
- Izzy Hill demonstrated her Backstroke prowess to set a new 12 years & over 50m Backstroke record to go alongside her record in the 11 year age group that is still standing from 2021.
- Lily Radford set the scene for the evening and displaying to us that she is going from strength to strength by setting a new 12 years & over 50m Freestyle record in event number 1!
- Xuanning Zhang deservedly set a new record in the 11 years 50m Breaststroke after coming so close to doing so in the championships that were six months prior to this event.
- Jennie Tsoi, Mini Mets Top Girl from 2022, capped off a successful night in fine form, setting a new record in the 10 years 100m Individual Medley.
The Mini Championships provided a great platform for all our athletes to showcase
their abilities, and I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things in
the future.
A special thank you must go to all the coaches and poolside helpers for their hard work throughout the night to ensure our event ran smoothly
All the pictures taken of the top 3 finishers have been posted on the private Facebook group the club have.
Keep up the amazing work Mini Mets!
