Youth Squad and Swim Trafford swimmer Holly Rowlinson, aged 12, competed in The British Gas ASA National Championships at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Thursday 25 July 2013.
Holly achieved her national qualifying time for the National Championships in the 200 metre breaststroke at the North West Regional Championships in June when she came second in the final with a time of 2:51.29.
At the Nationals Holly qualified in the heats of the 200 metre breaststroke in 8th position for a place in the final with a time of 2:49.73 obtaining a new PB of nearly 2 seconds in the process. No other girl from the North West qualified for the final. In the final Holly went on to improve her position to 6th overall out of 10 girls with a time of 2:47.08 an amazing further PB of over 2 seconds on her heats time. She was less than a second off the 3rd position!
On the basis of the National times this year Holly has already qualified for the Nationals next year in the next age category following her swims at the National Championships!
This was a fantastic achievement by Holly as a result of her devotion to swimming, hard work in training and talent. WELL DONE HOLLY!
