Craig McNeil has enjoyed a fantastic opportunity to put his volunteering skills into operation at the European swimming championships currently being held at the Olympic pool in London.
Craig met former Trafford Metro swimmer and world record holder James Guy at the event (pictured below). Craig said 'It has been an amazing experience. I have been a medal chaperone which involves collecting swimmers accreditation telling them that I am their medal chaperone after they get out of the water then sending them to media. I also have to meet them at the other end where they collect their kit from, which has to be full national kit.. It's just a case of keeping them within eyesight and telling them how long they have before they have to be at the victory ceremony area. The whole experience is amazing seeing behind the scenes of how a international competition takes place and the preparation of all the athletes is a whole new experience and exciting to meet some of the best swimmers in the world.
