Trafford Masters were awarded the Tom Walker trophy for finishing as top club once again at the Cheshire Masters gala held yesterday at Macclesfield Leisure Centre. There was an excellent turnout of 28 swimmers and records galore from our swimmers.
In the 50 Free Emma Gage, Lucy Lloyd-Roach and Helen Sadler set new records. Helen also set a new mark in the 400 Free as did Rachel Barton. Lucy chipped in again with a new record in the 50 Breastroke and Nev Barton did likewise. Messrs Gage and Sadler were at it again in the 50 Butterfly and Emma topped this off with the best 100IM time of any lady in any age group. Lucy also set a new mark for this event in her age group too. The were new 100 IM records too for Dan Korcz and Paul Barnard. In the 400IM Rob Arnold set a new record as did Cat Green and Bec Henly. It was stretching the interpretation of the word novice somewhat as Simon Rigby recorded a 26.57 in the novice 50 Free.
The relay age groups were altered in 2014 to bring them in line with national masters competitons. This has created a number of new record opportunities. Trafford lost no time in snapping up a few of these setting new marks in no fewer than 9 events.
Emma Gage was also awarded the Claire Dickenson salver for finishing as top female swimmer. Paul Barnard recieved the Tom Walker trophy from Cheshire President Allan freeman. All in all an excellent competition for our masters - next up Nationals at Sheffield.
